Please join us for the launch of Babak Golkar’s Grounds for Standing and Understanding, which is presented in conjunction with the opening of the artist’s new exhibition Dialectic of Failure at the West Vancouver Museum.


Grounds for Standing and Understanding centres on Babak Golkar’s installation that was presented at the Charles H. Scott Gallery in the spring of 2012. The book includes in-depth essays by Jason Starnes and Abbas Daneshvari, with a foreword by Greg Bellerby.


Canadian-Iranian artist, Babak Golkar, produces artwork that negotiates the space between cultural and socio-economical registers. He received a BFA from Emily Carr University and an MFA from the University of British Columbia. He has exhibited in Vienna, Kuwait, Berlin and London. Most recently he has shown at the Sanatorium Project in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, Greece.
