Biographies
Tim Lee is an artist based in Vancouver. Lee characteristically makes artwork that fuses art history, humour, and pop culture to deal with ethnicity and cultural identity. Presenting himself as the central subject of his work, Lee produces quasi-documentary accounts of staged performances and role-playing actions that reference iconic moments in art and popular culture. Lee has exhibited internationally and is represented by Tracey Lawrence Gallery in Vancouver and Cohan and Leslie in New York. Later this year he will be exhibiting his work at the Musee d’art Contemporain de Montreal and the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp in Belgium, as well as a solo exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London.
Speaker Series
The Speaker Series (2000–2006) was a programme of visiting artist talks and lectures organized by Charles H. Scott Gallery in conjunction with the Art Now course at ECIAD. The programme was initiated by ECIAD faculty Ian Wallace in the 1970’s as a series of lunchtime artist talks. Wallace ran the programme until 1998.
