Speaker Series: Pierre Bismuth

Artist Talk

Pierre Bismuth

Co-presented with Art Now

April 3, 2001, 12:15 PM

Room 328, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design

Biographies

Pierre Bismuth‘s drawings, collages, musical compositions and videos reveal the complex thought processes which underlie our approach to ‘simple tasks’ such as learning to play a musical score from memory or using a computerized thesaurus. Using a variety of devises to track and document the ways we work, he compiles an ongoing study of the frequently overlooked peculiarities of memory, comprehension and interpretation. His work has been exhibited internationally.

Bismuth currently resides in London.

Speaker Series

The Speaker Series (1989–2006) was a programme of visiting artist talks and lectures. From 2000–2006, talks were co-organized with the Art Now course at ECIAD.
