The Charles H. Scott Gallery is pleased to present 1:26 In Study Model Wonderland from Halifax to Vancouver, organized and circulated by Maison de l'architecture du Québec.
The exhibition examines the roll of the study model and its relationship to the architectural creative process, demonstrating that in the age of digital design, the study model remains an invaluable conceptual tool. The curatorial team interviewed many of Canada's leading architects and selected the most significant sketch-models, from the humblest paper fold to more complex, intricate, and extravagant examples. Fifty of these works are presented in a full scale cardboard landscape designed by Atelier in situ, exhibit designers and renowned architects in their own right.
Through conversations with the architects, images of the constructed buildings, and the models themselves, the exhibition elucidates how the physical construction of models informs architectural design.
A catalogue designed by Uniform and published by Maison de l'architecture du Québec accompanies the exhibit.
