Speaker Series: Alex Morrison

Artist Talk

Alex Morrison

Co-organized with Art Now

October 29, 2002, 12:15 PM

Room 328, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design

Biographies

Alex Morrison is a young Vancouver-based artist. His work deals with the urban experience of youth sub-cultures, specifically skateboarding. Morrison effectively draws the viewer into the visual psyche of the skateboarder, a mindset preoccupied with seeking out the acute and obtuse angles, the circular diameters, of potential skateboard ramps. He uses a variety of artistic media including drawing, photography sculpture and video. Over the past few years, Morrison has shown extensively throughout Canada and Europe including solo exhibitions in London and Zurich.

Speaker Series

The Speaker Series (1989–2006) was a programme of visiting artist talks and lectures. From 2000–2006, talks were co-organized with the Art Now course at ECIAD.
