Speaker Series: Euan Macdonald

Artist Talk

Euan Macdonald

Organized by Charles H. Scott Gallery in conjunction with Art Now

November 22, 2005, 12:15 PM

Room 328, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design

Biographies

Los Angeles based artist Euan Macdonald builds a capricious collection of images an events that may seem random and unrelated – ice cream trucks, exploding filing cabinets, lovebirds, and falling guitars. Despite this initial disparity, they all share a combination of brevity and recondite complexity. He reminds us that appearances and situations sometimes get taken for granted. Macdonald has participated in numerous group shows internationally including the Seville Biennale in Spain, 2048 KM at the Or Gallery and Eclipse & Other Chance Experiences at the Kunstbaunker in Nuremburg, Germany. He has had solo shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Munich, Rome, Sydney and Tokyo. Macdonald has collaborated with Vancouver artist Tim Lee on an exhibition entitled Togetherness, which opens at the Tracey Lawerence Gallery on November 24th and runs through to December 23, 2005.

Speaker series

The Speaker Series (2000–2006) was a programme of visiting artist talks and lectures organized by Charles H. Scott Gallery in conjunction with the Art Now course at ECIAD. The programme was initiated by ECIAD faculty Ian Wallace in the 1970’s as a series of lunchtime artist talks. Wallace ran the programme until 1998.
