Biographies

Marianne Nicolson is a member of the Dzawada‘enuxw Tribe of the Kwakwaka‘wakw Nations. She has a BFA from Emily Carr Institute, a MFA from the University of Victoria, a MA in Linguistics and Anthropology from the University of Victoria, and is currently pursuing her PhD. Her work has been shown extensively in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and abroad. She has had solo exhibitions at the National Indian Art Centre, Hull; The Thunder Bay Art Gallery; and the Or Gallery in Vancouver. She has taken part in group exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the International Museum of Film and Photography, New York, the National Museum of the American Indian, New York and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. Her work is currently being featured in a solo exhibition. Bakwina’tsi: the Container of Souls at Artspeak Gallery which runs until February 11th.
