Speaker Series: Toshiya Ueno

Toshiya Ueno is a critic, media theorist and activist. He has lectured extensively on cyber culture and his essays include “Techno-Orientalism and Media-Tribalism: On Japanese Animation and Rave Culture” and Japanimation and Techno-Orientalism – Japan as the Sub-Empire of Signs.” Ueno will be taking part in the Vancouver Art Gallery project, The Uncanny: Experiments in Cyborg Culture.
